About

Thank you for visiting the Victoria For Bowling Green page. I am running for City Commission. I decided to run because it seems the City Commission is focused on expenditures on growth and infrastructure without actually giving back to the citizens. For instance, BG is required to reduce property taxes if growth is more than 4%. We grew 6%, but property taxes were reduced .01.  That is not a real reduction. Also, if you own property, you probably noticed a reassessment that increased your property value. So, even with a reduction of .01, you are probably paying more than you did 5 years ago.

Personally, I have spent my life in service to others. I have worked in nonprofit most of my professional career. I have worked with families and children in the DCBS system; with severely mentally ill adults in the community mental health system, and now with military children and their families.

I have served on the Board of the International Festival. I have served two terms on the Kentucky Commission of Community Service and Volunteerism and have been a  CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) worker . I  help when I can and support several national and local charities.

Nationally, I support the Sierra Club, World Wildlife Federation, USO, Special Olympics, US Navy Memorial, Food for the Poor, NAACP, ACLU, Wounded Warrior Project, and Habitat for Humanity. State wide I support Kentuckians for the Commonwealth, Honorable Order of the Kentucky Colonels, and Kentucky Sheriff’s Boys Ranch. Locally, I support the Democratic Woman’s Club, Rainhill Equine Rescue, Toys 4 Tots, and St. Vincent DePaul.

I believe our similarities are far greater than our differences. I believe all people should be treated well. We are better when we show mercy, give help, give acceptance, and provide opportunities. I believe in giving a hand, not a handout. Most people just need the opportunity.

I am asking for your vote to bring fiscal conservatism to the City Commission and to provide opportunities for all citizens of Bowling Green. Thank you.
